The Luxury of a Botswana Safari -

Remote Safaris and Romantic Honeymoons

A Botswana safari undoubtedly offers one of the most spectacular wildlife, luxury lodge accommodation and wilderness experiences in the world. Picture yourself miles from civilisation, in beautiful natural surrounds and 5 star hospitality and you are imagining a Botswana safari. A Botswana safari offers remote unspoiled locations for one of the best safari experiences and romantic honeymoons in Africa. In our opinion a Botswana safari is one of the most romantic honeymoons possible, there are few places as magical, remote and luxurious. Visit our Botswana honeymoon section for more information.

As Botswana Safari and Honeymoon specialists, we believe the greatest attraction is the Okavango Delta at the heart of Botswana where this mighty river fans across the desert sands forming a labyrinth of waterways and lagoons, greening an area half the size of Switzerland. A safari in the Okavango is an experience never to be forgotten. Each year 11km2 of water reaches the delta and empties out onto the sands of the Kalahari Desert. To the north of the Delta the Chobe River, within easy driving distance of the Victoria Falls, attracts some of Africa's largest elephant herds, while to the south the Makgadikgadi and Nxai pans, drum-flat and shimmering in the sun, give way to the dunes of the Kalahari, home to Botswana's Bushmen communities.

Botswana is home to a vast array of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, hippo, zebra, both the black and the white rhino, giraffe, lion, cheetah, leopard, crocodile, lechwe, blue wildebeest and chacma baboon, as well as over 400 species of birds. A Botswana safari can be a fantastic addition to a honeymoon with a combination of luxury and remote wilderness.

Botswana Honeymoons

Honeymoon Botswana

A honeymoon in Botswana combines the luxury and service of 5 star accommodation, wild big 5 game viewing in its unspoilt natural habitat and the romanticism of being in a remote location, far from civilisation which few others have ever visited before. For our favourite honeymoons we usually recommend combining a safari in Botswana with a relaxing beach break in South Africa, Mauritius, Mozambique or the Seychelles.

Planning your Luxury Safari in Botswana

The big question is when to go on safari in Botswana? April to October are said to be the best times for a safari in Botswana but each season has its own attractions and highlights. December to May is a particularly good time for birding safaris and for anyone wanting to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the bush at a bargain price! Most visitors will start their safari in Maun, Botswana which is accessible by air and road from Johannesburg, Livingstone/Victoria Falls and from Namibia via the Caprivi Strip.

There a number of different ways to travel around Botswana, the style of safari you choose is generally dictated by your budget.

If you want to travel in luxury a fly-in safari is the way to go. See our Ultimate Luxury Botswana Safari. This luxury safari enables you to explore the Okavango Delta in style and offers superb game viewing throughout the year with first class hospitality. For a comprehensive tour our Botswana Wilderness Safari offers the chance to explore three contrasting regions, the Savuti, the Okavango Delta and the Makgadikgadi Pans. We travel by light aircraft, on foot, in open 4 wheel drive, Mokoro and even by quad bike.

If you are looking for exclusivity, comfort and personal service in a traditional style we recommend a mobile Botswana safari. Whether you choose a private luxury camp or a rustic walking option, our mobile Botswana safaris are all about privacy and flexibility; a luxury in its self. The camp is moved from location to location and set up in advance of your arrival. Our Botswana Adventure Safari starts with time in Livingstone for Victoria Falls, then head out into the bush on the mobile. Conventional game drives are combined with walking and mokoro safaris. Days are spent exploring on foot, by mokoro. This is a trip for anyone who loves the wilderness but wants comfort and personal service.

Small Group departures enable you to experience the thrill of a mobile safari without breaking the bank. With a maximum of 8 in a group our Migration Routes Safari takes you back to the bygone days of African safari and exploration.

These are all just sample itineraries to give you an idea of how to use your time. There is a huge range of accommodation styles and options so please do call us and speak to one of our Botswana specialist advisors who will then prepare your personal quote.
