Having spent my early childhood listening to the stories of my great, great–grandfather, the famous explorer Charles John Andersson and his exploration of Botswana and Namibia, it has been a life-long ambition of mine to travel this wild, untamed corner of Africa. It didnt disappoint.

Botswana Honeymoons

Botswana is in our opinion one of the most romantic places on the planet. Travelling through Botswana is a breathtaking visual experience and provides an extraordinary connectedness with Nature. Honeymooners will be overwhelmed by the endless wilderness, staggering abundance of wildlife and luxury camps.

What could be more romantic than greeting the African dawn (and a herd of elephants) in a mokoro (dug out canoe) gliding through the glittering clear waters of the Okavango? Imagine toasting your married life as the sun casts shadows over isolated paradise of the Linyanti.

Once of the reasons many honeymooners are drawn to Botswana is that in most areas its camps are small and intimate providing an exclusive and personal experience. The camps are also some of the most luxuriously appointed accommodations on offer in Africa. The excellent staff will make an extra special effort for honeymooners organising surprises like candlelit bubble baths and private dinners lit by lanterns and star light.

The honeymoon safari experience in Botswana is all about enjoying the solitude of her vast wilderness. Miles away from wedding stress and city life, you can imbibe the utter peace that only Africa can offer. Spend your days on action packed adventures such as game drives, bush walks and boat trips and spend your evenings sipping gin and tonics around an open bush fire. After a candlelit dinner under the stars retire to your room and fall asleep to the sounds of the hippos grunting and the cricket’s lullaby.

Between activities there is plenty of time for relaxing. Spend your afternoons in lazy siestas around the pool or have a private lunchtime picnic in the bush.

Botswana is a destination in itself but can also be combined with other destinations such as South Africa, Mozambique, Mauritius and Namibia.

There a number of different ways to travel around Botswana, the style of safari you choose is generally dictated by your budget. For a honeymoon a fly-in safari is usually the way to go and you can include any combinations of the parks that you desire. We have found that most honeymooners wish to incorporate Victoria Falls in Zambia at the start of the trip. From here it is all about exploring the 3 best wildlife regions in the country...
