The Sun City and Johannesburg Region
Johannesburg is the gateway to South Africa and this is where many visitors will
start their journey. You may find yourself spending time here at some stage of your
holiday. There are several good museums and plenty of shopping centres to explore.
Many visitors choose to base themselves in the nearby ‘township’ of Soweto for a
fascinating cultural insight. From here it’s just a short drive to the Sun City
resort complex of hotels, casinos and golf courses. It is famous on the golf circuit
as the home of the Nedbank Challenge. Johannesburg is also the gateway for Pilansberg
National Park and Madikwe Game Reserve, both offer a Big Five safari experience.
