Accomodation in Greater Maputo
The sprawling city of Maputo is Mozambique’s capital. Formerly known as Lourenzo Marques it was once regarded as one of the most fashionable cities in Africa and is still renowned for its Portuguese colonial architecture. There are some excellent hotels, restaurants and the nightlife here is legendary with musical influences from all over the world.
Maputo is easily accessible by road and air and is the gateway to some excellent beach resorts.
There is a regular ferry service from Maputo’s fishing harbour to Inhaca Island just 40km off the coast. Inhaca is a natural paradise of unspoiled forests, grassy plains, stunning white beaches and pristine coral reefs so typical of Mozambique's islands. Here you can visit the fascinating maritime museum, historic lighthouse and have lunch or stay and relax at the Postana hotel.
Pestana Inhaca
Inhaca Island is a small-inhabited island, lying just 40 km (15 minutes by plane) off the Mozambican capital of Maput.
