Along the historical Mozambique channel lies tropical Ilha de Benguerra. It is here that Benguerra Lodge – a unique and incomparable African island paradise – is washed by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
The Lodge is small and intimate and offers genuine hospitality, personalised service and an intimate knowledge of the natural environment. It has a rich East African/Arabic feel – evinced in both the décor, and the unique and delectable food. The rooms all merge naturally into the surrounding forest and are only moments from the gorgeous silver-white beach of Benguerra Bay.
Benguerra is passionate about conservation and dedicated to the involvement of the local community in conserving this idyllic corner of the world. This is barefoot luxury at its very best!
There are no doors nor window panes in Benguerra Lodge, only the thatched roofs prevail against the sun and the wind. The wooden central lodge, complete with bar, restaurant, and terrace, looks out from the trees over a garden teeming in flowers and birds.
On either side of the central lodge are the thatched wooden chalets. Bedrooms are accessed by a staircase and contain a magnificent four poster bed and an en suite bathroom. Both breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet while the dinner is served at the table. A fully equipped diving centre organises daily trips out to sea in catamarans. Boats for sea fishing are also placed at the guests’ disposition.
