Safari Overview

This itinerary includes both north and south LuangwaA Northern Tanzania safari provides some of the most exciting and varied wildlife viewing in Africa. How to do it depends on your personal preferences; this vast area may be explored by 4x4 or as a flying circuit, staying in elegant, stylish private camping concessions, mobile camping or permanent tented camps, or otherwise opting for lodge-based accommodation.




Ngorogoro Crater Lodge Serengeti Serena Boundry Hill in the Tarangire

Trip Itinerary


Day 1

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your driver/guide for the transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Overnight at your chosen accommodation on the rim of the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoy the views.

Day 2

Early morning descend into the Crater for a spectacular morning of game viewing.. The Crater is home to over 40 000 herbivores such as wildebeest and zebra as well as having the heist density of lions anywhere in Africa. The Crater is also the last remaining refuge for the few black rhinos remaining in Tanzania. Consequently the Crater is always busy so be prepared to see a lot of other vehicles, be patient and remember everyone is there for the same reason as you. After a picnic lunch drive to the Serengeti National Park. Overnight at your chosen accommodation. Mahlatini staff will advise the best location based on game movement.

Day 3 & 4

Gameviewing at your leisure in the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is the largest National Park in East Africa covering over 14 000sk kms. It is also home to the spectacular annual wildebeest migration. Two nights at a tented camp or lodge

Day 5

After breakfast depart for the Lake Manyara National Park, game viewing en route. Dinner and overnight at a tented camp or lodge.

Day 6

After an early breakfast, descend the escarpment to visit Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, Manyara is unique in that it is one of the few groundwater forest, consequently the park is lush and green, there are huge herds of elephants here, the famous tree climbing lions and it’s a good place for primates. After your game drive continue to Tarangire National Park. Overnight at a tented camp or lodge.

Day 7

The day is spent game viewing within Tarangire National Park which offers superb dry season game viewing. The bush in this beautiful park thick and reminiscent of southern Africa. This is the only place in northern Tanzania where there is an opportunity of seeing wild dogs. Tarangire also offers the chance for game walks which add variety to your day and give you a chance of seeing some of the smaller animals. Night drives are also offered making it possible to see nocturnal animals such as spring hares, African wildcats, genet cats and white tailed mongoose. Overnight at a tented camp or lodge.

Day 8

Transfer to Arusha for connections to Zanzibar and onward connection.
