11 Night Classic Zambia Itinerary
Zambia's three stunning premier parks are all different. The lagoons and riverine woodland of the Luangwa, the escarpment and water experience of the Zambezi, the miombo woodland and vast open plains of North Kafue are contrasting and all host exceptional game. The camps are small, personal and owner run. This is a spectacular safari through Zambia - through remote areas, with dedicated guides and excellent game.
Day 1
On arrival at Lusaka you will be met by a Mahlatini representative who will assist you with your light aircraft transfer to Mfuwe Airport for South Luangwa National Park. On arrival at Mfuwe you will be transferred to Kapani Lodge for 2 nights. The Lodge is situated in a superb game viewing area with nearby ebony woodland and open grass plains. The area is particularly good for leopard sightings. Afternoon game drive in open 4 wheel drive vehicle
Day 2
Early morning and afternoon game viewing activities. In between game drives just relax and tune in to the African bush and enjoy the camp surrounds, there is a swimming pool to cool off in the afternoon heat
Days 3-5
Transfer to one of the remote Luangwa bushcamps, from here most of your gameviewing will be on foot. The camps are close enough together to allow you to walk from one to the other exploring the environs of the Luwi River as you move down its course towards its confluence with the Luangwa River.
Day 6
Air transfer from Mfuwe to Jeki Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. On arrival at the airstrip you will be met and transferred to Sausage Tree Camp gameviewing en route. Sausage Tree Camp is a Mahlatini favourite and offers first class hospitality in a stunning setting.
Days 7-8
Two full days to explore this beautiful wilderness area. Gameviewing can either be from open vehicles, by foot or take to the water and explore the Zambezi River by canoe.
Day 9
Light aircraft transfer to Livingstone for Victoria Falls. You will be met on arrival and transferred to Tongabezi luxury lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia, 20 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls.
Days 10-11
Two full days to visit the falls and enjoy one of the many activities on offer including sunset and sunrise boat trips, bird walks and 'Livingstone Day' (Livingstone Museum, markets and lunch by the Falls), white water rafting and flights over the falls.
Note: This is simply a suggestion of how you can spend your time. Mahlatini will tailor make the itinerary specific to interests and budget. The region offers a wide variety of places to stay ranging from formal hotels to informal holiday flats, game lodges and reserves, guesthouses etc. There is usually something to suit everyone’s budget! Should you wish to have the car hire delivered or if you would prefer transfers this can easily be arranged.
