Abu Dhabi is a fantastic holiday destination. Just 7.5 hours from London it’s not too far to travel even if your intention is only to stay for a week. With a sub tropical climate, the summer months of July and August are best avoided, and October to April is regarded as the best time to travel.
For families of all ages, Abu Dhabi will provide a destination unlike any other in terms of activities and things to do. For families interested in history and culture, look no further than the 200 year old Al Maqtaa Fort, and a visit to the stunning Zayed Grand Mosque should not be missed.
Enjoy a day out haggling in the souks as the excitement of your latest purchase will keep you buzzing for hours. Buy gold’s and gems, perfumes and spices in these mystical old markets, and keep some time for the world class shopping available at one of the 18 huge shopping malls.
Activities
Keep the kids happy with camel rides in the desert, Wadi and dune bashing in 4x4’s, head into the desert for a wildlife experience where you may observe indigenous Giraffe, Beisa Oryx and Barbary Sheep. Or if you prefer, keep it a bit tamer with a trip to the spectacular Abu Dhabi Zoo.
The islands of Yas and Saadiyat are a must; culturally Saadiyat has the largest concentration of cultural institutions anywhere in the world, or head to Yas island for a mind-blowing family day out. The Ferrari World, F1 race track is situated here, along with the fastest roller coaster in the world. Shopping is possible and dad can even head off to the Links golf course. Everything is possible in Abu Dhabi.
