November of this year has seen Regional Air Services in Tanzania offsetting some of the company’s carbon footprint with ‘Carbon Tanzania’; a scientific and authentic environmental organisation. Carbon Tanzania, to which regional offset funds will be channelled, is aiming to protect and regenerate existing indigenous forests throughout Tanzania via community-based natural resource management. Currently the project has focused on the forest in Arkaria Village, Monduli Hills, 40km west of Arusha. Regional endeavours are trying to be as eco-friendly as possible throughout the operations. For example, motor vehicles have been replaced with bicycles and plastic water bottles are being sent to be crushed making them easier to recycle. Office paper is recycled and office waste is composted where possible.
