Location
The camp is accessible by air. You can take a charter flight from Maun which is approximately 1 hour or a flight from Kasane which is approximately 1 hour 30 minute .
Highlights
- Nature walks accompanied by a local Basarwa (Bushman) tracker are also offered and concentrate in smaller desert ecology as well as cultural and traditional elements.
- Wildlife sightings can include the sensational black-maned Kalahari lion, as well as one of the highest concentrations of cheetah in Southern Africa!
- In the summer months (end-November to April), the rains experienced at this time of year ensure that the desert springs to life. Rather than game dispersing, these rains cause sprouting of short, palatable grasses on the pans systems and the fossil riverbeds such as Deception Valley. As a result plains game such as springbok, gemsbok and blue wildebeest concentrate in these areas and attract predators such as lion and cheetah.
- In the dry winter months game viewing remains productive as the herbivores move into the vegetated dunes and isolated pan systems surrounding the valleys. Kalahari Plains is located on one such pan and sightings of characteristic species remain good throughout the year.
