DumaTau Camp

Gregory Fox

Sitting on the deck watching the sunset and listening to the hippos in the lagoon is a true Africa experience. Bird watching at the hide in the Savute channel is great and highly recommended.

DumaTau means 'roar of the lion' yet it is its massive elephant concentrations and outstanding wildlife in general for which it is renowned. It is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system, which makes game drives along the Savute one of the highlights of a stay here. The camp lies under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, raised off the ground to overlook a large hippo-filled lagoon.

Holiday to Botswana during February 2011

Botswana Review

All I really know about Botswana is the camps I stayed in and the bush apart from a brief visit to Maun which can probably best be described as a "frontier" town but it seemed to me to be clean and orderly
