Chief's Camp, Botswana

Gregory Fox

The view from the main area over the flood plains is amazing. The perfect way to spend an afternoon at Chief's Camp is to relax on the deck, book in hand, while taking in the sounds and scenery of the Delta.

Chief's Camp is a luxury bush camp situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. In this "predator capital of Africa", wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound, and guests enjoy exceptional opportunities to interact with this amazing environment. Since the introduction of white rhino into the area, this is the only place in Botswana where these magnificent animals can be seen in their natural environment. Chief's Camp has been so skilfully integrated into the landscape that guests can often view game without even leaving camp. Shaded from the heat of the day by a beautiful grove of jackalberry trees, Chief's Camp is so remote you'll feel like the only humans for miles and miles.

The camp is accessible by air from Maun (+- 25 minutes) and Kasane (+-1 hour 30 minutes).

Botswana Review

All I really know about Botswana is the camps I stayed in and the bush apart from a brief visit to Maun which can probably best be described as a "frontier" town but it seemed to me to be clean and orderly
