Spending a morning walking and interacting with the elephants was an experience that I will never forget and I would highly recommend this activity to anyone that wants an up close and personal experience with these amazing animals.

Baines' Camp is an exclusive lodge named after the gamed 19th century explorer and artist Thomas Baines. The camp is located on the Boro River, in a private concession neighbouring the Moremi Game Reserve. Set amongst the shady trees and water of the Okavango Delta, the intimate Baines' Camp features five luxurious suites set on elevated platforms in the tree line. Wooden desks offer expansive views over the permanent water of the Boro River and a lagoon teeming with life. This area is superb for viewing all animal and bird species. Guests may explore by land and water, often into the night to discover nocturnal species.

Location

The camp is accessible by air from Maun (+-15 minutes) and Kasane (+-1 hour 30 minutes). The camp is a 45 minute drive from the airstrip.

Highlights

  • Baines is well suited to honeymooners with only 5 luxury suites on elevated platforms with starbeds! The four-poster beds are fully mobile, giving guests the choice of slumber under star laden skies. Avid astronomers will delight in stargazing from the privacy of their own deck.

Holiday to Botswana during February 2011

Botswana Review

All I really know about Botswana is the camps I stayed in and the bush apart from a brief visit to Maun which can probably best be described as a "frontier" town but it seemed to me to be clean and orderly
