Jao Camp

Gregory Fox

Jao Camp is a beautifully designed lodge. The views over the flood plains provide some of the most stunning scenery that Botswana has to offer. I knew I was in paradise while relaxing on my private veranda taking in the birdlife and the peace and tranquillity that the Delta has to offer.

  • Gregory Fox

Jao Camp is located on a large, remote island in a private concession in Botswana, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. In the central region of the concession, vast open floodplains provide some of the most stunning scenery Botswana has to offer. Jao Camp lies in the southern side of the plains, an area with beautiful islands fringed with riverine forests. Huge herds of red lechwe can be seen, followed by their primary predator - prides of lion. Other game includes elephant, buffalo, leopard, tsessebe, zebra and wildebeest, hippo and crocodile.

Location

An approximately 35 minute flight from Maun and 1 hr 25 flight from Kasane. It is a 10 minute flight from the airstrip to the camp.

Botswana Review

Loved Botswana. Its a country that really seems to have its act together. They have made conscious decisions to maintain their environment and from our little exposure it seems that the government has been able to avoid much of the corruption and inefficiencies of many other African countries.
