Vumbura Plains

Gregory Fox

Vumbura Plains Camp has the most spectacularly modern and interesting layout and design. The highlight for me was spending an afternoon having a siesta on my private Tsala and later relaxing in my own private plunge pool while overlooking the breathtaking floodplains. These features, and the fact that the rooms are large and very private, make the camp perfect for honeymooners or those wanting a special experience.

Vumbura Plains is a luxury camp situated in a private concession in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta. The camp comprises two separate seven-roomed satellite camps, each with its own raised dining, lounge and bar area tucked beneath a canopy of cool, shady, indigenous trees and with a magnificent vista across the floodplains. Whilst exploring the spectacular ecology of this area, one can enjoy close-up viewing of lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo along with all the plains game. Birding is fabulous here with immense species diversity and mind-boggling numbers. The Vumbura area is possibly the only area in the Okavango where one can see red lechwe (an animal that inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and sable antelope (an animal that prefers the dry countryside) on the same game drive.

Botswana Review

Loved Botswana. Its a country that really seems to have its act together. They have made conscious decisions to maintain their environment and from our little exposure it seems that the government has been able to avoid much of the corruption and inefficiencies of many other African countries.
