Xugana Island lodge, Botswana


The Xugana Island Lodge is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta, which in the midst of the Kalahari sands, is Africa`s largest and most awe-inspiring oasis. It is in the heart of this inland delta that one will find the remote Xugana Island on the edge of the beautiful Xugana Island Lodge, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience to its visitors. Xugana Island Lodge is situated on a private concession and takes full advantage of this magnificent site.

Location

The Lodge is approximately 30 minutes by air from Maun and approximately 1hr 10 minute flight from Kasane. Xugana Island Lodge may also be reached by unique boat transfer from its sister properties Camp Moremi or Camp Okavango.

  • The views from the front of the lodge or one of the lodge's eight elevated rooms allow for the immediate realization that one has arrived in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Prepare for the cacophony of bird calls, the distant grunt of hippopotamus and the sweet smell of the well irrigated African bush.

Activities

Motorboat and canoe (mokoro) excursions, walking safaris, bird-watching and fishing for bream and tiger fish (on a catch and release basis). There is no game drives offered at Xugana Island Lodge as it is a true wet camp.

Meal Basis:

Fully inclusive accommodation including all meals, local brand drinks, scheduled game-viewing, which includes both land and water activities, park entrance fees and laundry service.

Child Policy:

Regrettably no children under 16 years.

Accommodation:

The Lodge offers 8 large raised reed and thatch lagoon facing chalets, with en-suite facilities and private viewing decks situated on the shaded fringe of the island.

Botswana Review

Loved Botswana. Its a country that really seems to have its act together. They have made conscious decisions to maintain their environment and from our little exposure it seems that the government has been able to avoid much of the corruption and inefficiencies of many other African countries.
