Sitting on the deck watching the sunset and listening to the hippos in the lagoon is a true Africa experience. Bird watching at the hide in the Savute channel is great and highly recommended.

DumaTau means 'roar of the lion' yet it is its massive elephant concentrations and outstanding wildlife in general for which it is renowned. It is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system, which makes game drives along the Savute one of the highlights of a stay here. The camp lies under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, raised off the ground to overlook a large hippo-filled lagoon.

  • Hide at the source of the Savute channel and many species of game and birdlife can usually be seen from this hide.
  • Elephant viewing is amongst the best anywhere especially in winter.
  • Predator sightings of lion, cheetah and wild dogs are good.
  • Night drives on the channel are superb.
  • Excellent birding.

Mobile Camping – All the camps were great, all slightly different and I particularly enjoyed the final one at Linyanti where the staff were so good to us and entertained us by singing – which we had to reciprocate! Xiegera was great too – we had 2 outdoor picnic lunches, one ... more
