Location
Fly into the Kichwa Tembo airstrip, roughly 1 hour's flight from Nairobi and then transfer 30 minutes, game viewing en route, to reach the camp. To road transfer from Nairobi takes about 6 - 7 hours.
Highlights
- Heading out on an exciting night drive which you are unable to do staying inside the national park. Leopards and other nocturnal species are in their element, it is a truly magical time to be out in the bush.
- Drinking sundowners on a spot near the Mara River watching the last light glisten off the water

The tented camp at Kichwa Tembo is the most amazing setting from which to base a safari. The modest building structures are very traditional yet maintain such high standards in maintenance and cleanliness that one could not epxress any complaints about them. The luxury tent in which we stayed was as far from a traditional tent as anyone could imagine, with hot running water, shower cubicals and electrictiy freely available.
The staff at Kichwa Tembo are by far the most friendly I have ever encountered. They did all the simple things so well, that nothing was ever a problem. From the morning wakeup calls to the personal service waiter, we really couldn't have asked for more.

Amazing - a tent with electricity, separate toilet and power shower! The staff really looked after us and the romantic turn down with Chanpange was an excellent touch.

The right way to do a safari - in a tented camp at Kichwa Tembo! Our tents were huge and with the most amazing view. I could sit on the balcony and watch zebras, giraffes, buffaloes and some other animals all day!

overall Kichwa Tembo was fantastic,accomodation was comfortable and clean and it was without a doubt the most memorable and special part of our honeymoon, the only fault with it that we had was two hyeenas came through electric fence and ran right by us outside our tent which was scary but the staff dealt with it straight away.
