Elsa's Kopje, Kenya

Elsa's Kopje is a luxurious oasis in the wilds of Meru National Park. It is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson's biographical film 'Born Free'. Almost invisible to the eye as you approach the lodge based on Mughwango Hill in Meru National Park, it blends into the rocky crags of the 'kopje' (small hill) and is built very near to the site of George Adamson's original campsite. The accommodation is truly stunning, cottages have an open front to make the most of the environment you are staying in, and Elsa's private house has its own swimming pool giving guests more privacy and luxury. In Meru National Park guests will see a more diverse range of species than in any other Park or Reserve in Kenya. Regular sightings include Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Elephant, Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Lesser Kudu, Grant's Gazelle, Leopard, Lion, Cheetah, Rhino and the rare, elusive Greater Kudu.
