Day 1:
Nairobi
On arrival into Nairobi's International Airport your family will be met and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi for the evening. Depending on the time of your arrival you may have time to explore the city and its attractions. Highly recommended are the Karen Blixen Museum (author of Out of Africa), the giraffe sanctuary, Nairobi National Park, a city tour and the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. We also recommend lunch or dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant where all manner of exotic meat is served roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit.
1 x Overnight at the Holiday Inn Hotel
Day 2 - 3:
Lake Nakuru National Park
This morning you will depart early in your landcruiser with your private driver to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru can vary in size from 5 – 30 square kilometres and the park started life as a bird sanctuary before becoming a National Park. The lake itself is shallow and strongly alkaline which attracts huge flocks of flamingos that dapple the shore line. It is now home to herds of zebra, waterbuck and buffalo as well as the endangered Rothschild giraffe and other mammals. It is also possible to see prides of lions during game drives and its one of the best places in Kenya to spot leopard. The park is an important sanctuary for white and endangered black rhino which can be seen resting in the shade of acacia trees on the lake shore. You will spend your time here on game drives in the park and enjoying 'sundowners' as the sun sets casting a golden refection across the lake.
2 x Overnights Sarova Lion Hill Lodge
Day 4 - 6:
Masai Mara
Today you will return by road to Nairobi where you will have lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant before being ransferred to Wilson airport for light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara is the most well known reserve in Kenya setting the scene for the Great Migration usually July – October. Over 1 million wildebeest flood the reserve after travelling north from the Serengeti in Tanzania, along with large herds of other herbivores all looking for the best grazing. Closely following the herbivores are the predators, most notably lions and hyenas. The Masai Mara is a great place for watching big cats, it is where they film the BBC Big Cat Diaries, but it also has an abundance of other wildlife and birdlife to take in during your stay. There are many activities to do during your three night stay such as bush walking, Maasai village visits, picnics and sundowners as well as the usual 4x4 game drive.
3 x Overnights at Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp
Day 7 - 12:
Mombassa
Today you will return by light aircraft to Nairobi for lunch at Pampa Restaurant. Following this you will transfer to the airport for flight to Mombasa. On arrival at Mombassa's Moi Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel where you will spend the next 6 days. Enjoy the wide variety of watersports on offer such as deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving, glass bottom boat, sea-scope boards, pedalos, kayaks and local 'Ngalawa' outrigger canoes. The resort also has 2 floodlit tennis courts, volleyball, croquet, boules, par jogging trail and bird watching on offer.
