destinations will be safe and provide not only entertainment but adequate facilities for children.
If it is a safari you are after we will guide you to lodges and game reserves which specifically cater for families. If it is beach and water sports you want,
the options are endless. Combination holidays of safari and beach are also very popular choices for all ages and sizes. Whether it is pure adventure, relaxation
or a combination of both, we will tailor the trip to suit all of your requirements, ensuring that fun is high on the agenda throughout.
Family Safaris
A safari can be an unforgettable family holiday because not only will children will be exposed to incredible wildlife but also a vastly different culture, allowing for a fun and educational experience. And a safari is something parents can enjoy too!
What could be more exciting to a child than stroking a baby elephant, feeding giraffes or discovering a lion in the wild? Imagine your children seeing a magnificent Maasai warrior for the first time or learning to make a fire from wood and stone!
Our most popular safari destinations for families include South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. These countries are well experienced in ensuring that safaris are safe and very well run, providing equal enjoyment for parents and children. That said, however, other countries are fast rivalling these traditional destinations in the family market.
In many cases parents opt to combine an exciting safari experience with a beach holiday allowing for some family fun in the sun. There are plenty of twin centre options which work well for families including combining South Africa with Mauritius or a Kenyan safari with some time on the beaches of Mombasa or Zanzibar.
Mahlatini are experts in family safari holiday and the best lodges and camps for families. We understand that taking children on such a trip can be daunting but we will offer advice on safety and ensuring that the holiday is packed with fun and opportunities for learning.

Africa provides destinations which are generally only 1 – 3 hours + GMT, providing very little time difference to upset children's routines. Many parents have
returned from their trips to African countries to say that the safari was far more educational and memorable than somewhere like Disneyland. The children were exposed
to an authentic nature experience which was also highly entertaining. And a safari is something parents can enjoy too!

Family Friendly Destinations
Our most popular safari destinations
for families include South Africa,
Kenya and Tanzania. These countries are well experienced in ensuring that
safaris are safe and very well run, providing equal enjoyment for parents and children.
South Africa not only has great year round weather but huge diversity of attractions. Not only can you experience an authentic safari but enjoy a beach stay, visit
scenic cities such as Cape Town and expereince a variety of cultures all within the one trip to the Rainbow Nation.
Kenya and Tanzania are popular choices for safari and beach combination holidays. Following a very exciting safari in the Masai Mara or the Serengeti, head to the beaches
of Zanzibar or Mombasa for a bit of relaxation
and family fun in the sun.
The above are our most popular destinations, however other countries in Africa also offer fabulous adventures for families and we will work with you to ensure
you make the right choice for our holiday.
Namibia is an up and coming destination for families, specifically because you can self-drive the country with
relative ease and safety. This is worth seeing before mass tourism reaches this unique destination.
Zambia's Victoria Falls particularly appeals to older teenagers
as it is known for its adventure activities such as bungee jumping and white water rafting. Following Victoria Falls nothing could be more adventurous than a walking
safari in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park.
Certain Mauritius hotels wonderfully cater for children providing children's clubs and a large number of water sports and other
fun adventures. One of the best countries to cater for luxury family holidays would be
Botswana. Here the camps are so small you would almost have the lodge to yourselves and the activities on offer are numerous from boat trips to private day
and night drives.
Lake Malawi offers an entirely unique holiday experience. The crystal clear waters of the lake provide for
excellent canoeing, kayaking and snorkelling. It is indeed for those families wishing to enjoy the beauty of a totally untouched wilderness environment. Mozambique's incredible beaches have drawn visitors to its shores for years; its tropical waters also provide some of the
best fishing and diving in Southern Africa.
Uganda is generally gaining popularity amongst families. As the focus is largely on the gorilla tracking with an
age limit of 15 years it is best suited to families with older children. However, there is no reason that younger children of any age can't enjoy the safari in
Queen Elizabeth National Park or chimp sanctuary at Ngamba Island.
