Rovos Rail – Pretoria to Victoria Falls


A Leisurely Sojourn by Luxury Train through South Africa, Botswana & Zimbabwe

Depart from Rovos Rail’s resplendent Capital Park Station in Pretoria for two nights and three days of adventure snaking through Mafeking into Botswana and then north towards Mahalapye, passing over the Tropic of Capricorn just beyond Gaberone. Having travelled through the dry reaches of Botswana, in the late afternoon Plumtree will administer Zimbabwe’s border formalities. We continue in a north-westerly direction passing Bulawayo heading towards Thompson's Junction and Hwange Game Reserve. Journeys end is the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River. Please note that depending upon railways capacity this journey could be routed northwards through Beitbridge and Zimbabwe.

Pretoria to Victoria Falls

Thursday

  • 10h00 The Pride Of Africa train departs from Rovos Rail's private train station in Capital Park.
  • 13h00 Lunch is served en route to Zeerust.
  • 19h30 After traversing the Magaliesberg Range dinner is served as the trains heads towards Mafikeng for border formalities.

Friday

  • 07h00 Breakfast served in the dining car/s.
  • 13h00 Lunch is served in the dining car/s.
  • 17h00 Border formalities at Plumtree.
  • 19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s.

Saturday

  • 07h00 Breakfast served in the dining car/s.

  • 17h00 The train arrives at the Victoria Falls where your Rovos Rail Journey ends.

Victoria Falls to Pretoria

  • 10h00 The train departs Victoria Falls Train Station.

  • 19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s.

Monday

  • 07h00 Breakfast served in the dining car/s.
  • 13h00 Lunch is served in the dining car/s.
  • 19h30 Dinner is served as the train heads towards Lobatse.
  • 23h00 The train arrives at Mafikeng for border formalities.

Tuesday

  • 05h00 The train departs Mafikeng.
  • 07h00 Breakfast served in the dining car/s.
  • 13h00 Lunch is served in the dining car/s.
  • 16h00 A short stop at Centurion where the Rovos steam engines take over the haulage of the train. 17h00 Arrive at journey's end, the gracious Capital Park Train Station in Pretoria.
