Our Comments and Suggestions on choosing a Room Type:
The Superior Rooms are situated in blocks closest to the main area of the hotel and facing the main beach. Many of our staff have stayed in the superior rooms and we were very impressed with the sheer size of the room and the sunken bath. All the rooms do have a little balcony or terrace mostly facing the sea but looking directly into gardens. These rooms are more than sufficient if your budget can’t stretch to a higher level room type.
The Deluxe Rooms are all located in their own area around the man-made false harbour at the very east of the resort near the helipad. There is a separate beach here and it offers a little more privacy. In saying that though, these deluxe rooms are also the furtherest away from the restaurants and main hotel area. If you are after a bit more peace and quiet, particularly during school holidays it may be best to stay in a deluxe room. As with all of the rooms you will have a furnished balcony or terrace facing the sea but looking directly into the gardens.
The Junior Suites are spacious and luxuriously decorated in subtle shades of sand and ochre, blending perfectly with the main element, which is wood. There is an ottoman at the foot of the super-king size double beds and a large, comfortable sitting area on the private terrace or balcony. Each Suite has a small dressing room and spacious bathroom, bath tub, with a walk-in shower, two washbasins, a bath and a separated toilet. The junior suites are located amongst the superior rooms in the main block of the hotel facing the main beach.
The Senior Suites have a theme of earth and fire. Each villa has its own private garden, looking out towards the lagoon. From the sitting area, two steps lead up to the magnificent double bed. Each of the villas has its own whirlbath and a very spacious bathroom. These rooms are situated far away from the rest of the room types to the left of the main pool and restaurant. They will certainly offer a lot more privacy than the lower room types.
The Emperor Villa has 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, as well as its own fitted kitchenette. It has its own whirlpool and a delightful, private outdoor stone garden with a pool, a barbecue area and a gazebo for outside dining. A very special feature of the Villa is that it has its own private beach, and there is a butler available to help make guests’ stay even more agreeable in anyway he can.

Restaurants & Bars
Our Comments and Suggestions on Dining at LUX* Grand Gaube:
The range of dining options at LUX* Grand Gaubeis what makes it such a successful resort. It ensures something different is on offer every night if you wish to avail of the choices.
We have eaten in the fine dining restaurant Karma House. The concept is unique with the menu being designed the five concepts of Feng Shui. The food was as you would expect from a fine dining experience – beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. This would a night for a very special treat.
Additional Information
Facing the sea and the pool, Ginkgo, the main restaurant serves a buffet breakfast in the morning and in the evenings Mauritian, Asian or Mediterranean buffet dinners. In accordance with Feng-Shui principles, there are no corner-tables in the restaurant. Lovers have the option to dine on the beach, cut away from the world… to share a moment of romantic bliss.
La Bastide is LUX* Grand Gaubes' beach restaurant, prominently located and offering a stunning view of the northern islets. The restaurant offers a joyous “cuisine du soleil”, a delightful blend of Mediterranean and Creole flavours. A variety of grilled food and salads is available and the spicy flavours of Mauritian food are a perfect match for the southern French cuisine.
Karma House is the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant which overlooks the pool and offers a spectacular view of the lagoon. The menu is designed around the five Feng Shui elements. Guests are treated to gastronomic flavours coming from Asia, India and Mauritius.
Abalone is the sea food restaurant which is also open for lunch and then offers Mauritian dishes and large salads.
Grand Bleu is LUX* Grand Gaubes' main pool bar - a rustic bar with large comfortable armchairs, featuring a splendid view of the ocean. It is the ideal setting for a light meal, a club sandwich, dim sums, pancakes at tea-time, a pre-dinner cocktail or a liqueur by the pool.
Enjoy memorable moments in the elegant and refined Spirit Lounge, ideal for a quiet drink, before or after dinner, to the sound of the piano. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the plush comfort of an English club, with a choice of cigars from the LUX* Grand Gaubes' private collection.
The Banyan Bar is a laid-back place, under some of the oldest banyan trees on the island, beside its own pool, with seating at the bar or under the shade of parasols on the lawn. The Bar’s selection includes fresh fruit juices, beers and tropical cocktails. At lunchtime, grills, cooked in front of guests, and large salads are served.

On a Half Board meal basis breakfast and dinner are eaten at the main Ginkgo Restaurant. If you want to eat dinner at another restaurant you are provided with a credit and the menus should indicate any supplements required.
Spa & Treatments
Based on a combination of thalasso and spa therapies, the LUX* Grand Gaubes' spa is representative of the Mecca of wellbeing. The complex features four massage rooms, two hydrotherapy rooms and one double kiosk ideal for a body scrub, speciality of the house. The spa is also equipped with:

Families
LUX* Grand Gaubeis a brilliant resort for families. Not only does it offer a choice of 3 beaches and 4 pools but also provides a host of land and water sports to keep children occupied. The Kids and Teens Clubs arrange days of fun-packed day activities and the cinema is also an exciting feature.
During the months of April and September the hotel offers a free place to 1 child of teen (on Half Board).
In addition to this offer in the winter months there is also an offer of Pay 7 nights and get 2 free nights (on Half Board) for children or teens.
The Kid’s Club
Open from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.
The Kids Club offers a joyous, colourful and convivial setting including a garden, ideal for children. A qualified staff entertains youngsters from 3 to 11 years old, organising a vast number of activities suiting the children’s respective age. A babysitting service is also available on request (for a fee). Children’s lunch is served between 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. and dinner between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
Teens Club
The club for teenagers (above 12 years old) arranges days of fun-packed day activities, including a number of optional excursions outside the hotel and operates from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.

The hotel has three fresh-water swimming pools. The main pool, in the centre of the hotel, and close to the main restaurant and Le Grand Bleu, offers a breathtaking view over the bay. The second pool is in a quiet spot right at the very edge of the hotel, in front of the Banyan, Bar & Grill and the third one is next to La Bastide.

Cinema
LUX* Grand Gaubehas the only private cinema of Mauritius. Designed in line with the local architecture, to ally Zen attitude and functionality, the cinema is built in amphitheatre style and features deep comfortable seats.
Children have access to the cinema as from 7.30 p.m., during their parents' evening meal, while adults are welcome as from 9.00 p.m. Cartoons for the children or new releases and a wide choice of documentaries for the adults.

There is a range of weddings to choose from, including Indian or Chinese styles, or something more traditional. The team will do everything to make your day really special, whether you want an informal wedding on the beach or a more Zen occasion in a beautiful tropical garden setting. The hotel looks after all the administrative details and a hostess helps you to select the flowers you want, a special menu worked out with the chef and everything else. She will keep you informed about all the arrangements and the choices that the hotel offers you.
