Our Comments and Suggestions on choosing a Room Type:
All rooms are clean and bright. The family rooms are beautifully designed with a modern family in mind. Funnily enough we preferred the cheaper superior rooms to the deluxe rooms. There is really not much in them to be honest. If you are on honeymoon and you do want to treat yourselves the Senior Suites are exquisite. When compared with other five star hotels on the island perhaps the rooms aren’t as luxurious in decor, however, the price is so competitive for the all inclusive deal that the value is difficult to resist.
The Superior Rooms are the entry level rooms based on either the ground or third floor. They are all sea facing and can accommodate 2 adults and a child if necessary. Do remember that sea facing doesn’t always equate to sea view. The Superior Beach Front rooms are the same size but are either on the ground floor or first floor. They are all on the beach front.
The Deluxe Rooms only differ from the superior rooms in being slightly bigger. They can therefore accommodate 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults if necessary. They are all sea facing and either on the ground or third floor. They all have wifi in the rooms.
The Family Apartments offer 2 bedrooms (including a children’s room with bunk beds) and are ideal for families travelling with young children. The apartments can accommodate 2 adults plus 3 children. They are located either on the ground or first floor and all feature wifi.
The Senior Suites are 110m 2 on the first floor and ideal for young couples on honeymoon. Special features include a DVD player, Nespresso machine and wifi. The Senior Suites offer direct access to the beach and the split level bedroom leads onto a trendy bathroom featuring a spacious bath for two. The lounge has a flat-screen TV and Internet access. Room capacity is 2 people.
The Family Suites enjoy a fabulous beachfront location. They are based on the ground floor are 206m 2. Special features include a DVD player, private garden, reserve straw parasol and Wifi. These suites are located between two of the resort’s private beaches and can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.

Restaurants & Bars
Our Comments and Suggestions on Dining at Shandrani Resort:
Sarah ate at both the main restaurant and Le Sirius during her stay and was more than happy with the meals presented. The food was of a high standard and the menu choices were varied enough to suit the needs of most. The service was also very good.

Shandrani offers 6 restaurants and 2 bars.
The main buffet restaurant is Le Grand Port which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The buffet is international in the cuisine it offers. Le Sirius restaurant allows you to vary your meal with a al carte international choices. If you are in the mood for Italian there is the Porto Vecchio Restaurant and Teak Elephant offers Thai meals for dinner. For a treat the Gastronomic restaurant Le Boucanier Restaurant serves seafood specialities.
Advance bookings for restaurants outside the main restaurant are recommended.
The Blue Bay Bar and the Sirius Bar are open every evening until late and serve pancakes and snacks in the afternoon.
Evening entertainment around the bars include live music, folkoric dances, shows and astronomy.
There is a beach and pool service from 9am to 5pm every day.
The hotel can also offer special meals on the beach at an additional cost.
Spa & Treatments
The hotel has a Spa and a Wellness Centre, both affiliated to the Clarins brand. As a perk of the "Serenity Plus" concept, adults can enjoy a complimentary 45-minute massage during their stay at Shandrani.

Shandrani is an ideal resort for families. Not only do all of the rooms (except the senior suite) accommodate children, but there are family apartments and suites specifically designed with separate rooms. The all inclusive nature of the hotel ensures that parents aren’t continuously worrying about every drink or snack being consumed by their children going onto a large bill at the end of the stay. During school holidays there will be plenty of other families at the hotel providing children with other children to play with and the kids club will keep children so entertained that parents can take a well earned break.

Kid’s Club
Like all Beachcomber hotels, the Shandrani offers a free mini-club providing a range of activities that will appeal to your children. Examples of supervised activities offered to children are:

On first appearance the child friendly nature of Shandrani may put couples off the resort. If you travel outside school holidays the hotel will be more than suitable and it is large enough with 3 different beaches that you will always find your own little spot. The Senior Suite is one of the nicest rooms on the island and would definitely impress any bride. Weddings are also popular at Shandrani with a number of secluded spots on offer. The two spas are very very luxurious and will certainly relax you after the stresses of the wedding. I have had many honeymooners go to Shandrani for their honeymoon and thoroughly enjoy it.

For most of 2010 Shandrani is offering a 10% discount to Honeymooners as well as honeymoon gifts including a small bottle of champagne and fruits on arrival and a gift of two t-shirts.
Anniversaries
For most of 2010 Shandrani is offering a 10% discount to those celebrating an anniversary well as special gifts including a small bottle of champagne and fruits on arrival and a gift of two t-shirts. A copy of the Wedding Certificate will be required on check-in for validation.
Applies to every 5th years Wedding Anniversary which must be within 3 months of the arrival date at
the hotel.
