Azura is Mozambique first luxury 'eco' boutique retreat. On unspoilt Benguerra Island, the lodge offers deserted beaches of pure white sand, sparkling turquoise seas crisscrossed by local dhows, swaying palms, sunny days and star studded nights. Built entirely by hand by the local community and operated in partnership with them, it has just 14 villas, each with their own infinity pool and designed for both pampering and barefoot escapism. With wonderful Mozambican cuisine and friendly service, a vast range of activities and experiences including scuba diving, deep sea fishing, stargazing and a unique African Spa, you have the perfect undiscovered island getaway.

The villas are a welcoming place to stay. Wander down to the pristine white beach and welcoming azure sea beyond. Lounge around on plump cushions on your daybed, or tan in private and cool off in your sparkling plunge pool.
Dine on your deck, or sip champagne in your beachside Sala as the sun goes down. Lie in your bath and gaze at the view, or shower beneath the stars. Do whatever you want to do. You may not want to leave them at all.
You’ll have a dedicated Mozambican host to look after you during your stay. They’ll take care of all your needs, including serving your meals, arranging activities and joining you on excursions.

Accommodation:

3 Luxury Beach Villas, 11 Infinity Beach Villas and 1 Presidential Villa. All villas have their own pool, beach frontage, outdoor sala, sundeck, daybeds and double outdoor showers. The Presidential Villa has a second en suite bedroom, sitting/dining area, larger pool and extended deck with Jacuzzi.

Activities:

swimming, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, island drives with visits to lakes and dunes, beach barbeques, remote beach picnics, bird watching, sunset dhow cruises, spa treatments, star gazing, cultural encounters, day trips to Vilanculos boat trips, big game fishing, salt water fly fishing, kayaking and private dinners

Facilities:

formal dining area, lounge, bar, small exercise room, spa, library with TV and internet access, reception, water sports centre, beach bar and grill, Trading Store, butler service, child minding service, laundry / valet service and 40 foot dhow.

Meal Basis:

Fully inclusive accommodation including all meals, beverages, butler service, half hour back and neck massage at the Azura Spa on arrival, land rover island drive, various honeymoon treats and a sunset dhow cruise (stays of 3 nights and longer).

Child Policy:

Children are welcome though not explicitly catered for.

Location

2 hour flight from Johannesburg to Vilanculos followed by either a 10 minute helicopter transfer to Benguerra Island or a 15 minute speedboat transfer. (Twice weekly there is also a direct flight from the Kruger Mpumalanga Airport to Vilanculos)
