Location

By Air: 2 hour flight from Johannesburg to Vilanculos followed by a short 15 min flight to Bazaruto Island. (Twice weekly there is also a direct flight from the Kruger Mpumalanga Airport to Vilanculos)

Highlights

There are no shops on Bazaruto, only natural beauty, pure white beaches and a wonderland of fauna and flora to discover.
The east coast of the island faces onto the deep waters of the Mozambique Channel which is rich in game fish and attracts big game fishermen from all over the world. The islands' protected coral reefs also team with marine life, providing some of the finest diving and snorkeling experiences to be had.
The Bazaruto Archipelago supports populations of traditional fisherman and their families, many of whom are not permanent but migrate in constant search of good fishing. One can get a fascinating glimpse into traditional life by visiting one of these island fishing communities.
