Location
Twyfelfontein Lodge is approximately 335 km drive from Skakopmund and between 435 and 500 km drive from Windhoek (depending on routing)
Highlights
- Among the local fauna, none is more fascinating than the elusive desert-adapted elephant, Loxodonta africana, which permanently occupies the desert during the driest periods. These elephants walk up to 130 kilometres between water holes, covering up to 70km a day and sometimes drinking only every fourth day.
- Short excursions to the Burnt Mountain, Brandberg, Organ Pipes and Twyfelfontein - famed for the thousands of rock paintings and engravings found there. These paintings and engravings depict animals, hunting and abstract images.
