Little Kulala, Nambia


Little Kulala, a luxurious desert retreat, is situated in the private 37 000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve - the gateway to Namibia's Sand Sea with its towering red dunes and clear starry skies. Set amongst ancient camel thorn trees on the dry Auab riverbed it offers first-rate facilities, charming hospitality and proximity to the sand dunes of the Namib Desert.

Location

Little Kulala is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute flight from Windhoek and 1 hour flight from Swakopmund. The airstrip is located approximately 30 minutes drive from the camp. For drive options it is a 350 km drive south of Windhoek and 17 km south of Sesriem.

Highlights

  • A water hole in front of the main building gives the opportunity to see gemsbok (oryx), springbok, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, ostrich and jackals. Spotted hyaenas can be heard at night.
  • The Sundowner tour is one of the best scenic safaris in the Namib
  • A balloon safari at extra cost offers a unique experience soaring silently above the desert before landing for a champagne breakfast.

Little Kulala offers 11 climate-controlled, thatched "kulalas" with exquisite fittings and fixtures, innovative bleached decks each with a private plunge pool. Each kulala has a rooftop 'skybed' for romantic stargazing, with both indoor and outdoor showers. Included is 1 x family kulala which can accommodate 4 guests.

Zanzibar was amazing. Beautiful scenery. Loads of culture and history. Lovely people. Enjoyed more than I ever imagined I would.
