Located in the midst of a game-rich savannah on the boundary of Etosha National Park, the atmosphere of Andersson's Camp makes for a comfortable modern-day base for exploring this world-class wildlife destination. A former farmstead has been tastefully rebuilt and now forms the main area fronting onto a waterhole. From here twenty tented guest units radiate outwards - mostly secluded in the mopane woodland so typical of the area. The area containing Africa's largest saltpan was 'discovered' by Sir Francis Galton and Charles Andersson in 1851, and the camp takes its name from that of the famed Swedish explorer (who also just happens to be the great grandfather of Mahlatini's MD, Gregory Fox!)

  • Andersson's Camp's close proximity to Etosha is ideal for full-day self-drives into the Park in the plethora of game found here.
  • Most general game are present on Ongava Reserve as well as within Etosha, including springbok, gemsbok, wildebeest, Burchell's zebra, Hartmann's mountain zebra, waterbuck, red hartebeest, giraffe, eland and the endemic black-faced impala. Elephant and lion move between the Park and the reserve and both black and white rhino can be seen.
  • Birding is also good with Ostrich, Kori Bustard and raptors like Greater Kestrel in abundance. Local specials include Short-toed Rock-Thrush, Namaqua Sandgrouse, Double-banded Courser, Yellow-bellied Eremomela, Spike-heeled Lark and Acacia Pied Barbet.

Client Comments

Namibia is a totally different Safari experience to that of East Africa. The people were very friendly and the diverse landscapes from riverbeds to semi arid area right to the dunes were stunning. The Mahlatini Team were very helpful and I appreciate all the information, advice and tips given in advance. The whole trip was very adventurous and exciting.
