Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation, is only 2 1/2 hours, drive north of Windhoek. AfriCat is a non-profit organisation committed to long term conservation of Namibia's large carnivores, especially cheetahs and leopards.
Leopards are frequently seen, giving you an opportunity to observe these magnificent predators from a hide or a radio-tracked from the game viewing vehicles. The leopards are monitored daily. Guests can join in as the staff track the leopards within the rehabilitation park or on the leopard trail.
The Cheetah project offers valuable insight into the welfare work of the Africat Foundation. Cheetahs within the rehabilitation area can be radio-tracked on foot.
The Bushman Trail offers an opportunity for you to experience a day in the life of a Bushman. It constitutes an easy walking trail and is highly informative.
You get to learn about the art of making traditional artefacts and how the San adapt and survive in an unforgiving wilderness environment.
