Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is situated on the 37 000ha private Kulala Wilderness Reserve just outside the Namib Naukluft Park. The camp is adjacent to the massive Sossusvlei dunes that rise dramatically more than 300 metres above the adjoining plains. The camp is built close to the top of a mountain providing spectacular vistas of the desert valley floor and surrounding Naukluft Mountains. There are nine superbly appointed units, each with a plunge pool on a raised wooden deck.

  • Climbing the Sossusvlei Dunes - the most well-known being Big Daddy or Dune 45
  • Hot Air Ballooning over the Sossusvlei Dunes with a champagne breakfast. (Additional cost, closed 15 January to 15 February)
  • While the area is renowned for its outstanding physical beauty, possible wildlife sightings include gemsbok (oryx), Cape fox, jackal, springbok, ostrich, aardwolf, spotted hyaena and many desert-adapted plant species.
Accommodation:
9 superbly appointed units, each with a plunge pool on a raised wooden deck. Bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms all have panoramic views of the surrounding plains and dunes.

Location

Approximately 1h00 flight from Windhoek and the same from Swakopmund. The airstrip is located approximately 10 minutes drive from the camp. The camp is a 350km drive south of Windhoek and 40km from Sesriem which is the main gateway to the Namib Naukluft Park and the dunes at Sossusvlei.
