Acorn House, South Africa


This marvellous little jewel of a guesthouse is located at the foot of the towering Table Mountain, in one of the city bowl's loveliest suburbs. The House is a national monument and a fantastic example of turn-of-the-century Colonial architecture, having been designed in 1904 by the great Herbert Baker. It features original interiors and all the elegant trimmings of a truly traditional Cape home.

Location

Acorn House is situated in Oranjezicht, a suburb of Cape Town. Approximately 15 – 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport (outside rush hour) and 5 minutes from the central train station and the many restaurants and shops of the city 'bowl'. Only 5 minutes from the cable car to go up Table Mountain, 5 - 10 minutes from the V&A Waterfront and 10 - 15 minutes from the sparkling white beaches of Camps Bay.

Holiday to South Africa during September 2010

South Africa Review

I loved it. I did not think it was so developed and so clean and there were no potholes on the roads. My conclusion is that I was very ignorant about the country. The level of developement I foundw as far superior to what I had anticipated and the quality of the food was excellent. In terms of crime...
