The Cape Riviera Guest House, South Africa

Adam Chapman

I loved Cape Riviera! The huge bedrooms are beautifully fitted out, the main lounge area is totally charming and the view over the city is memorable.

The Cape Riviera is a wonderfully elegant guesthouse set in Oranjezicht, at the base of the giant Table Mountain. It is a fine combination of the traditional and à la mode. Beautiful architecture and stunningly refined interiors combined with sophisticated service and a heightened sense of privacy (not to mention views over Africa's most lovely city) make this historic home something very special.

Customer Reviews of the Cape Riviera

Holiday to South Africa during November 2011

We had a lovely time at Cape Riviera, and were treated extremely well by Owen, Lisa and the rest of the team. Their friendliness, advice and help given to us made our stay in Cape Town a very memorable and enjoyable one. they also know the best restaurants in Cape Town, and our dining experience certainly matched our wonderful experiences visiting the amazing sights in Cape Town and the surrounding area. We will certainly recommend Cape Riviera to our friends who are planning a trip to South Africa.

It was ok. Rooms were fine. Staff seem a little too anxious to know what you are doing at all times and some laundery took three- four days to do.

Honeymoon to South Africa during October 2011

Cape Riviera was a great hotel to stay at in Cape Town. It was in a safe location and Lisa and Owen were very kind and helpful. It was very easy to get to the waterfront as well as any highway. The bedrooms were spacious and clean and the bathroom seemed recently renovated. We enjoyed their bathtub the most!

Holiday to South Africa during September 2011

location was great as was the staff at all hours and days. the chefs were also wonderful and tried really hard to please. rooms were big and felt well protected there with a night guard and tv cameras. the house itself was beautiful and they did a fabulous job of making it into an inn. it was close enough to town to walk to everything but far enough away for it to be quiet at night. very enjoyable.

Honeymoon to South Africa and Mauritius during May 2011

After reading a few of the reviews on tripadvisor we were a bit worried about staying here but there was no need to worry at all. Again the hotel was great, we got upgraded to a better room and the staff were very friendly and nice, they helped us plan our stay in cape town. Some of the reviews on trip advisor mentioned that security was a problem but we had no problems. We enjoyed staying at the Cape Riveria so much we would love to go back and if we were to go to Cape Town again we would definitely stay here.

Honeymoon to South Africa during December 2010

Very helpful staff. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. Indoor parking is great to have. No restaurants nearby so have to take cabs around - not too expensive.

Holiday to South Africa during February 2011

South Africa Review

We have been to South Africa before in February/March when it is the depths of winter in the UK. Envigorating to get away from our dismal weather and the South Africans we have met have always made us welcome. Where we have been, we have alway felt safe although we have clearly avoided the townships...
