The Portswood Hotel has a great location on the Waterfront within easy walking distance of all of its attractions. The rooms are fairly hotel standard but the actual building is unique and quaint. I have used the Portswood many times before and have always had happy customers.

With a great central location and interesting history the Portswood Hotel is a great place to stay in Cape Town. Once one of Cape Town’s largest prisons, now recognised as a national monument, the renovated interior is now elegant and welcoming taking on a nautical theme to pay homage to its location so close to the water.

Accommodation:
58 twin rooms, 35 double rooms and 9 suites all with air conditioning, satellite television, mini bar, en suite bathrooms and 24 hour room service. Suites have a lounge area.
Activities:
There is so much to do in and around Cape Town you will never run out of things to do and see. Take time to visit Table Mountain (a must on anyone’s list), Robben Island or the Two Oceans Aquarium. Alternatively visit one of the many museums and galleries in the city such as the Maritime Museum and the National gallery, or get some retail therapy at one of the many shopping centres. You could also take a boat cruise from the waterfront, enjoy one of the great beaches, visit the Cape of Good Hope where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans are said to meet, visit Cape Town’s Castle, Drive along Chapman’s Peak, enjoy the wildlife watching the Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach or take a tour of Bo Kaap. Watch the sun set from Clifton beach, take a gondola ride at canal walk or do some more daring activities like cage diving with sharks or paragliding from the Lion’s Head. There are plenty of choices for everyone visiting Cape Town.
