Kosi Forest Lodge, South Africa


Kosi Forest Lodge is located in Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, part of the World Heritage Site Isimangaliso Wetland Park. It offers guests the opportunity to get away from it all and feel a part of the wilderness enjoying activities like bird watching or floating along the lake system in a canoe. The understated suites blend seamlessly into the sand forest and have an open front protected by mosquito nets to allow guests to get closer to nature and fall asleep to the serenades of the local wildlife.

Location

Kosi Forest Lodge is 4 to 5 hours drive from Durban. The last 9km are on dune roads only accessable by 4x4 vehicles. Guests will be able to park up to be transferred for this part of the journey. The transfer time to the lodge is approximately 25 minutes in the 4x4 and there is no additional charge.

Activities

Complimentary activities are guided canoeing, bird watching, boat trips on the Kosi Lake System, Raffia palm forest walks and swimming at Bhanga Nek. Additional activities are Kosi mouth visits for snorkelling and swimming, cultural activities, turtle tracking (November to January), horse riding, scuba diving, open ocean experience and visits to Tembe Elephant Park nearby.

Accommodation

Kosi Forest Lodge has 6 twin suites, 1 family suite and 1 honeymoon suite. All rooms are raised on a private wooden deck and rooms all have a romantic en suite outdoor bathroom, with separate sunken bath and shower. The honeymoon suite is more private allowing couples to enjoy the tranquillity of the sand forest undisturbed./p>

Holiday to South Africa during February 2011

South Africa Review

We have been to South Africa before in February/March when it is the depths of winter in the UK. Envigorating to get away from our dismal weather and the South Africans we have met have always made us welcome. Where we have been, we have alway felt safe although we have clearly avoided the townships...
