Amakhala Game Reserve – Reed Valley Bush Lodge, South Africa

The Amakhala Game Reserve began in 1999 as a joint conservation venture. Today, six independently owned lodges of The Heritage Collection, are all TGCSA Star Lodge accredited. The lodges are owner managed by the descendants of the original families who arrived here with the British settlers of 1820. The lodges offer various styles of accommodation, which include two gracious colonial homesteads, two classic bush lodges, an historic inn and a Settler farmhouse.

Reed Valley Bush Lodge is a brand new African retreat on the Amakhala Game Reserve. Built in the bush at the top end of an open valley in the reserve, each of the four rooms overlook a watering point with big sky views. All buildings are thatched roofs, tented walls and wooden floors. Each room has an open deck with plunge pool, air conditioning (hot & cold), fire place, large oval bath and outdoor shower.

Holiday to South Africa during January 2012

Our wonderful tented villa was enormous with a private deck and plunge pool where you could watch the animals walk by. We loved the indoor bath that was run for us daily and the outdoor shower. We would love to go back there again.
