Abalone Guest Lodge, South Africa

Adam Chapman

I liked Abalone Lodge. It has a lovely nautical and beach theme throughout the rooms which are bright and airy. The views from the patio are stunning. The lodge has a laid back feel to it and it is reasonably priced. It would be perfect for both couples and families with children.

Holiday to South Africa during February 2012

Physically everything was perfect, but the place was soulless, and cold. The food was excellent and nicel served and the place was very clean. They wanted us to move rooms each night (we were there for three nights). The lavatory/WC equipment was faulty the first night - continuous flush wasting water. The chap there couldn't fix it so we had to. They moved us, and then the third night wanted to move us again. The surroundings were lovely, and we were happy and comfortable there, but you got the feeling of remote control.

Lovely guest house, fantastic location for watching the whales. The town has great restaurants with prices a lot more reasonable than Cape Town. The staff here we very helpful and friendly. We would definitely go back.

well, we didn't stay in abalone. the booking agency made a mistake and they booked us in another abalone lodge 'somewhere else in south africa'...which was unfortunate cos the hotel looked very nice. so we got relocated to another hotel, which i don't recall the name but which was ok.
