Londolozi Founder’s Camp, South Africa


Enchanting and intimate, Founder’s Camp is ideally situated to provide an insider’s view of the secrets of river life. Seven idyllic chalets, repose in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sand River. This is safari in the classic style, replete with classic black and cream ticking fabric and original mahogany beds. Deep leather couches, military chests, compass safari lamps and a riverside lounge sala, create a mood of easy luxury and laid back welcome for discerning families and travellers.

Location

Londolozi Founder’s Camp is a 2.5 hour drive from Kruger Mpumalanga (KMIA) and a 5 hour drive from Johannesburg. Federal Air flights operate a daily flight from Johannesburg International Airport to Londolozi Airstrip, which is a five-minute drive to the camp. There are also scheduled flights from Durban and Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA). Private charters can be arranged.

  • The location in Oranjezicht, a wonderful suburb of Cape Town, right on the foot of Table Mountain, is exceptionally convenient.

Child Policy

Children are always welcome at Varty Camp. Regretfully children 5 years & younger cannot participate in Game Drives but may join the Londolozi Cubs Program at no cost. Children age 6 – 11 are welcome on Game Drives.

Accommodation

Londolozi Founder’s Camp have 7 chalets set along the Sand River, shaded by Ebony and Maxumi trees. Each chalet has its own private veranda with excellent river views.

South Africa Review

We have been to South Africa before in February/March when it is the depths of winter in the UK. Envigorating to get away from our dismal weather and the South Africans we have met have always made us welcome. Where we have been, we have alway felt safe although we have clearly avoided the townships...
