Serondella Game Lodge

Robert Andersson, South Africa

One of the biggest selling points for Serondella Lodge is the 3 bedroomed family suite, making it a great lodge for families. I really enjoyed an afternoon in my room spent watching elephants at the waterhole in front of the lodge. A great memory!

The Place of the Elephant...

Serondella Lodge, deep in the private Thornybush Game Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park is one of the country's great tracts of untamed game-viewing. The Lodge is ideally situated right infront of the Inyoni Pan, where Kingfishers dive and game come to quench their thirst. The pan is floodlit at night and you will have the opportunity to take some spectacular photographs or videos from the wide wooden deck. Serondella means ‘The place of the elephants’ which are the habitual patrons to the lodge’s two flanking waterholes. On the banks of this tributary of the Monwana watercourse are four carefully designed suites, providing guests complete privacy and stunning vistas.

Access by air from the Hoedspruit Airport which is approximately a 30 minute drive from the lodge. The drive time to Thornybush Game Lodge by road from Johannesburg is approximately 6 – 7 hours.

I was nearly crying leaving this place! Amazing experience, with the highlights of the day being the Game drives. Dave and Kelly who run the place were fantastic, and the accommodation/food was superb. My only recommendation here is that in between the game drives there is very little to do in Serondella apart from lie by the pool, so maybe having some other activities or amenities on offer might be good?

i think i covered the highlights above here. it was an exceptional place. very cosy and i liked that it only had 8 units. the wildlife was right there, all around the camp and in it too. the bad white monkey that grabbed the irish girls' toast was too funny and then they'd fire the paintgun at the offending culprit - it was too funny! the food was plentiful, with good choices and nice presentation. loved all the help and our hosts were the best! the rooms were so nice with good amenities and comfort and well maintained. thank you!

Holiday to South Africa during September 2010

South Africa Review

I loved it. I did not think it was so developed and so clean and there were no potholes on the roads. My conclusion is that I was very ignorant about the country. The level of developement I foundw as far superior to what I had anticipated and the quality of the food was excellent. In terms of crime...
