Day 1 - 3:

Arrive Cape Town Airport where you will collect your hire car and drive to the city. Spend the next three days exploring the attractions of the city such as Table Mountain, Robben Island, Bokaap or the V&A Waterfront. Or perhaps spend your days either taking in a game of golf, visiting Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, exploring the leafy Constantia suburbs or lounging on the nearby beaches of Clifton or Camps Bay. You could also enjoy a scenic drive down the Cape Peninsula towards Cape Point with a stop at the Penguin Colony at Boulders beach along the way. Tours on offer include city tours, township tours and winelands tours.

Day 4 & 5:

Today take the approximately one hour drive to Cape Winelands region and your base in either Stellenbosch or Franschoek. Spend your time here visiting some of the finest wine estates that South Africa has to offer and to exploring the very beautiful and historic towns. To treat yourselves we recommend a picnic at Boschendal Wine Estate (needs pre-booked), lunch at Lanzerac Manor and dinner at the African style Moyo Restaurant at the Spier Wine Estate. The winelands is not just about tasting wines but also about enjoying good food. The area has some of the best restaurants that South Africa has to offer.

Day 6 & 7:

Today take the approximately 1 hour drive to the scenic coastal town of Hermanus, famous for being one of the best places in the world for sightings of the Southern Right Whales (in season June – Nov). Spend the days walking along the famous cliff top walk around Walker Bay or simply lazing on the beach or having lunch in one of the many restaurants.

Day 8 - 10:

Today you will travel the approximately five hour drive to the famous area of the Garden Route. The three main regions of the Garden Route are the towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay and the Tsitsikamma area. Plettenberg Bay has some of the best beaches in South Africa so you can spend time here relaxing and enjoying the famous South African sunshine. In Knysna we suggest that you take in a leisurely lunch on the waterfront followed by 'sundowners' on one of the ferries which do trips around the famous Knysna estuary. When you are feeling more active partake in one of many activities on offer in the Garden Route such as the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe scenic railroad, nature walks, the Featherbed Nature Reserve, bungi jumping golf and many more. Or you can make your way to Tsitsikamma National Park. The area is known for its adventure activities such as hiking, black water tubing and the highest bungi jump in the world! But the views of the forest are entertainment enough for those looking for less adventure and more relaxation.

Day 11:

Today drive the approximately 1 hour drive to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and onward international connections.

Eastern Cape Safari Extension - 3 Days

Day 11 -13:
(Optional)

Today make your way up the coast for a further three and a half hours to the Eastern Cape Safari region and to Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. Your days on safari will start very early with a wake up call with tea / coffee, following which you will be off for your first morning game drive. After breakfast spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in the shade or perhaps lying by the pool. Your second game drive of the day will take place in the late afternoon. As evening falls it is generally the rule that guests enjoy 'sundowners'. Nothing is better than having a cold drink while watching the sun setting over the African bush. You will then be returned to the lodge for dinner and in many cases drinks under the stars.

Day 14:

Today drive the approximately 1 hour drive to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and onward international connections.

Customer Review

Holiday to South Africa during September 2010

South Africa Review

I loved it. I did not think it was so developed and so clean and there were no potholes on the roads. My conclusion is that I was very ignorant about the country. The level of developement I foundw as far superior to what I had anticipated and the quality of the food was excellent. In terms of crime...
