Hatari Lodge

Jamie Pallin, Tanzania

Loved the individuality and striking retro design of the lodge. Would recommend it for couples and I think it’s a very relaxed way to start or end your Tanzanian safari experience if you have the indulgence of time, as Arusha National Park is often considered a ‘less exciting’ park by many. The best way to experience Hatari is to take a couple of nights and enjoy it for what it is – beautiful surroundings, good personal service and a relaxed environment.

Hatari Lodge was named after the famous John Wayne movie of the same name ‘Hatari!’ filmed nearby. It is set just outside the boundaries of Arusha National Park with a stunning backdrop of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro, as well as the giraffes who linger around the gardens. This lodge is the perfect place for those wanting to really savour their safari experience and take their time to enjoy Tanzania slowly.

Location

45km from Kilimanjaro International Airport, roughly 1 hours drive game viewing through Arusha National Park for the last part of the transfer.

Highlights

  • Sitting out on the deck enjoying being surrounded by giraffe, and the stunning view of Mount Meru from the lodge and the dazzling blanket of stars at night.
