Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, Tanzania

I preferred the overall look of the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge to the Serena. The rooms aren't as big and it lacks the pool. The Serena certainly does have a unique design which may not be to everyone's tastes. On the whole the food was good as was the service. The bar area is extremely festive in the evenings. The lodge does, however, have fantastic views of the crater below.

The Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built onto the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a stunning plant and local creeper covered stone lodge where guests co-exist in perfect harmony with the surrounding natural environment and wildlife. Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, close to some of the earliest dwellings of man in Olduvai Gorge, has taken their cave paintings as inspiration. It is built of stones and boulders and is literally hidden in the vegetation of the crater's rim, disappearing completely from view from the crater's floor.
