This is a gorgeous lodge! The tented chalets in particular are lovely and include a bath which is rare for tents in Africa. The presidential suites are out of this world! The lodge rooms are surprisingly good and very reasonably priced. They are perfect for those who can't quite stretch the budget and you do get to share in the excellent facilities. The pool deck and restaurant are modern and with breathtaking views. The bar could even be described as funky! This is one of my most favourite properties in the Serengeti, and I recommend it particularly for those travelling from May to Aug. The only thing that must be noted is that Mbalageti is 16 kilometers from the main road it is difficult to return to the lodge for lunch. There are no game drive roads directly around Mbalageti, so one has to drive to the main road to game drive.
Mbalageti is located off the beaten track in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park. Situated on the Mwamveni hill the lodge offers a breathtaking panorama view of the Serengeti plains and the Mbalageti River, where one of the main attractions is the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Mbalageti offers a range of accommodation options from the standard lodge rooms, to the tented chalets to the incredible presidential suites. The swimming pool deck, bar and restaurant, located on the tip of the hill with a 360 degree view, is the perfect venue for relaxing after a day of game viewing.
We had a fantastic time. The honeymoon was fantastic from start to finish. Lake Manyara was lovely but we enjoyed the Ngorongoro Crater the most. It’s so beautiful and there was so much to see there.
