Chiawa Camp, Zambia

Resting peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds the prime position in the heart of Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp offers Zambia's premier, luxury safari with varied activities such as game drives, walking, canoeing, boating and fishing in the presence of Africa's finest guides. Enjoy personalised service, fabulous cuisine, gorgeous "tents" and a spectacular setting with leopards, lions, elephants, hippos and other wildlife as your neighbours. The Camp opens from April 15 – Nov 15.

Location

Chiawa Camp is a 30 minute flight to Royal airstrip from Lusaka and 1 hr 45 min flight from Livingstone, followed by a 1 hour game-drive/transfer through the park to the camp. Airstrip. For those less pressed for time, Chiawa Camp can also be accessed from Lusaka or Kariba by a 6 hour combined road and boat transfer.

Highlights

  • Enjoy midday cruises through numerous channels, viewing hippo, buffalo, elephant and prolific bird life. Also on offer are sunset cruises, or breakfast served on board, anchored in the middle of the Zambezi.
  • Although the Zambezi offers many activities, perhaps it is best known for canoeing. Nowhere else is there such a combination of breathtaking scenery, varied wildlife and such interesting channels to paddle through.
