Nkwali Camp, Zambia

Nkwali Camp is comprised of cool and spacious chalets located in the South Luangwa National Park. The land is superb game viewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grasslands. Elephants regularly cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. Nkwali Camp is open year round.

Nkwali in South Luangwa is the oldest camp in Zambia - opened in 1951, the same site, the same bricks. The rondavels - meaning a circular room - overlook an exceptional bend in the Luangwa River. Nkwali is in the heart of the national park and the game viewing is spectacular.

Location

Nkwali Camp is approximately a 30 – 45 min flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe Airstrip followed by 40 min drive to camp. Access to the park is through the main entrance over the bridge and by boat to the pontoon

Highlights

  • Walking through the Luangwa Valley is a wonderful way to really discover the secrets of the bush. Walks are led by an experienced naturalist and accompanied by an armed game scout.
  • The surrounding wilderness has superb game viewing and the area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings.
  • Why not try a 'hot stone therapy' to 'Thai full body massage' in the massage area. This is wonderful for those who arrive tense and tired from a long journey, a stressful life or just to have a great relaxation.
