Day 1 & 2:

After your arrival into Lusaka Airport transfer to the domestic departures lounge for your flight to Mfuwe Airstrip in the South Luangwa National Park. You will be met at Mfuwe by your safari guide who will drive you to Kapani Lodge, usually arriving in time for brunch. You will have the rest of the day to relax, until game viewing this evening which will be by vehicle leaving camp around 4pm. You will stop for sundowners in the Park and then continue with the second half of the drive, which is conducted after dark in search of nocturnal species. You will return to camp at around 7:30pm in time for dinner.

The following morning you wake early and meet around the camp-fire for a light breakfast whilst watching the sun rise over the lagoon. The game drive this morning will last for three to four hours, bringing you back to camp for a hearty brunch and allowing time afterwards for relaxation in your room or by the pool before the afternoon drive. Again this will return after dark in time for dinner.

Day 3 & 4:

This morning will start in much the same manner as the previous day, with early breakfast and a game drive; but you will pack your bags and take them with you because this morning's game drive will deliver you to your next camp, Luwi. On arrival you will be served with brunch and briefed on the walking safaris that lie ahead of you. Later in the afternoon you will set out from camp on foot accompanied by your professional guide and an armed escort scout for your first true walking safari.

The following day will be spent with a full day exploring the area around Luwi. There is a permanent lagoon next to camp complete with a large number of hippo and crocodiles. This evening the walk will finish with sundowners overlooking this wonderful spectacle.

Day 5 & 6:

This morning you will rise early and set off from the camp-fire on foot. Your morning walking safari will end at Nsolo bush camp where you will find your bags waiting and the camp staff ready to welcome you. After brunch you will have a few hours to rest before your afternoon walk.

The following day is also spent at Nsolo bush camp. The early morning walk will be followed by brunch and an afternoon at leisure, either reading some of the reference books in the lounge or just watching game come down to the pools in the riverbed in front of camp. This afternoon you can drive or walk or try a mixture of both, the choice will be yours.

Day 7:

Tea and toast heralds another dawn at Nsolo and the conversation will often include an interpretation of all the noises that kept you awake through the night. You head off again on foot and follow the course of the Luwi sand river towards its confluence with the main Luangwa. Positioned overlooking this confluence you will find Kakuli bush camp, where a cool drink and brunch will be waiting and your bags will have been delivered to your tent.

Nightdrives from this camp are usually very worthwhile so again you can choose to walk, drive or do a little of both.

Day 8:

This morning you will have the opportunity to stay a little longer in bed. Breakfast at Kakuli will be followed by a game drive through the Park ending up at Mfuwe airstrip for your flight to Lusaka and onwards.
