Kafue National Park, Lower Zambezi National Park

The climate in Kafue National Park is just like Zambia’s. There is a, warm dry season and then a 6 month long rainy season, which is very wet and humid, followed by a cool dry winter. The brief summer is extremely hot and dry and lasts from September to November, with daily temperatures peaking at 40 degrees C. the hottest month during this period is October. From mid- November to April tropical storms assault the country. Winter begins from May and usually lasts up to August. The day temperatures in the cool reason range form 23 to 31 degrees C. During June and July the temperatures can fall to as low as 5 degrees C. After winter (September onwards) the temperatures start to rise, quite rapidly again.

Livingstone & Victoria Falls

The weather in Victoria Falls is split up into two seasons, winter (May to mid August) and summer (mid august to the end of April). Winter is mild and dry with average high temperatures ranging form 25 – 27 degrees C and average lows between 7 – 10 degrees C. Summer time is usually very hot and very wet (during the rainy season, mid November to April). Average highs are between 32 – 34 degrees C and average lows between 15 – 19 degrees C.

Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa has a tropical climate, with two much defined seasons. Form May to November the weather is quite hot and dry, then from December to April the seasonal rain fall hits transforming the land into green grassy pastures. October is one of the hottest months where the temperature can rise to 40 degrees C during the middle of the day, but often cool off comfortably after sun set.

Holiday to Zambia, South Africa and Botswana during October 2011

Zambia Review

Stayed near Vic Falls for just 2 days so didn't stray much further. Swimming in the devils pool is definitely worth a go though!!
