During our daily walks and drives we encountered leopard, hunting lions and had a few close encounters with feisty bull elephants but some of my best memories are of the 'in between' times relaxing in camp. As the sun sets gales of strange snorting laughter erupt as pods of hippos make their way onto the river banks for a night's grazing. Elephants frequently wander into camp - there is something very soothing about their presence.

In 1885 David Livingstone came upon this mile-wide gorge where the mighty Zambezi River roars over a ledge and drops 400 feet to the valley floor below. Victoria Falls itself can be viewed from both Zambia and Zimbabwe and is larger than the falls at Niagara and one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. The mist from the falls can be seen 20 miles away. Livingstone is the town which most people base themselves in or around to view the Falls in Zambia. You can spend an afternoon gazing at the falls and exploring the local area, take a helicopter or microlight over the falls or for the particularly fearless, take the world famous bungee-jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge.
