Before I went on my first walking safari I was very nervous at being so exposed to the wild but after a few minutes with my guides I felt totally at ease and safe in their hands. These guides are totally in tune with the bush, just like the animals around us their ears appeared to prick up at the slightest sound and their eyes are like those of a leopard. Seeing animals up close and personal on foot is an exhilarating experience and I am totally hooked on walking in the bush, bring on the next one.

Walking safaris are a magical way to explore the African bush. Naturally you cover less distance but when you step out of a safari vehicle you feel your senses sharpen and alert to every sound you become part of the bush. Walking safaris are all about quality not quantity. Listen, smell and feel as you travel. Zambia is the home of walking safaris as pioneered by the great conservationist Norman Carr.
