I enjoyed my stay at Karafuu Beach Resort largely because of the service. It was excellent, the staff were just so friendly and helpful. I was there out of season so it was hard to judge what the resort would be like at full capacity but the beach is lovely and the lodge is well maintained

Karafuu Resort, meaning 'cloves' in Kiswahili, is situated on the East Coast of Zanzibar Island. The hotel was built in harmony with the environment with local materials according to ancient Zanzibar traditions: roofs made of makuti (palm thatch) and walls of coral. Inside Karafuu, old traditions meet luxurious finishes and first quality materials. Karafuu Beach Resort is an oasis of peace shaded by coconut palms, frangipani and bougainvillea, surrounded by long deserted beaches dotted with coral cliff.

Karafuu Beach Resort is just over an hour's drive from Stone Town and Zanzibar Airport.

Accommodation

Karafuu Beach Resort offers 26 junior suites, 35 cottages and 27 garden rooms. Junior Suites are all sea facing situated along the beachfront under a beautiful palm-grove or on the cliff. The cottages are located just behind the junior suites and most offer a partial view of the sea through the lush palm tree tops. The garden rooms are surrounded by luxuriant tropical vegetation at the back of the property.

Honeymoon to South Africa and Mauritius during August 2011

Mauritius Review

The people are very friendly and are obviously very proud in trying hard to establish their country as a holiday destination. Coming through security is a bit ridiculously slow. The 2 highlights were arriving and seeing the gorgeous place lit at night and the dinner in our room, lovely reception....
